Technology with Integrity

In working with clients, we are always looking for ways to provide more for less. One of the ways this can happen is by taking advantage of vendor programs.  If you qualify, there are some amazing bargains available.

Microsoft offers the “Action Pack” to Microsoft partners. Recently, they extended this offer to Accountants, with a new program called the Microsoft Partner Accounting Network (MPAN).

The “Microsoft Partner Accountant’s Network” (MPAN) is a free program aimed at accounting firms. You join by filling out a brief form about your company.  When you join, you are automatically enrolled as a registered member in the Microsoft Partner program, which gives you access to training, sales, and marketing tools.

The important part is that it entitles you to order the “Action Pack”. For $299 plus shipping, you get a 10 user not for resale copy of nearly every Microsoft product.  This includes Microsoft Office, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server, and much more.  You receive quarterly updates. It is an annual subscription.  This is an amazing deal, which I highly recommend accounting firms take advantage of.  To get the Action Pack, first sign up for the program, then go to the benefits page and sign up for the action pack offer. Signing up requires a Microsoft Passport account, which you will need to create if you don’t already have one. You then can place the order online, and will get your box of software in about 10 days.

Any technology provider can become a Microsoft Partner, and get the action pack. If your company provides technology related consulting, does training, writes custom software (even in house), provides internet services, or consults on or resells computer products, you qualify.  It does not require passing any tests, just a profile of your business. Why do they do it? To gain market share. Software sales depend on widespread acceptance of the product – If they can get you to use and recommend it, and you influence others, it generates sales.  Microsoft has made several attempts to purchase QuickBooks accounting, and recently they released Microsoft Office Accounting, another attempt to get the small business accounting market.  They want to get accountants to look at and recommend their products.
